I have come around to not supporting IVF in any capacity. I can’t agree with the link that you provided with the statement about Christians only making the number embryos they plan to transfer. For the simple reason that we don’t know when our last breath will be. You can have 2 embryos sitting on ice and then get hit by a bus. A friend of a friend had every intention of transferring all of their embryos and then a devastating health diagnosis made this impossible. We can’t support leaving babies frozen on ice for years in the hopes that they will be able to be transferred.

It’s an uncomfortable and painful conversation but with the increase of IVF use, there needs to be a moral reckoning on the act of freezing babies.

Yes I see your point there. You never know and that's why at the end of the day, it's probably best not to do it.

Conception and pregnancy are the possibility of a child, not the promise of one.

conception and pregnancy *are* a child, but they aren't a promise of how long that child will exist.

That’s a belief. The Christian sect I grew up in, which was countercultural and shunned politics (and was thus not politicized), believed rather the opposite.

So much good food for thought... if nothing else, we MUST start having conversations about IVF and all the implications. Ignorance is but bliss, not for for the families with embryos and certainly not for the embryos. Thank you for bringing these topics out of the shadows and into the light. These conversations will not be easy, they will be very uncomfortable, and they will need to happen over and over. It's a complicated topic with so many emotions attached. But you're right, the rights of these unborn children needs to be taken into account, sooner rather than later.

IVF is plainly demonic. It feeds off the egoic will of adults to control what isn’t ours to control. God decides which souls should incarnate through the sacred act of conception through sex. Our mental ideas and plans interfering with that design is evil, even if people feel ‘offended’ by that statement.

I don't think it's demonic, but I do think it's been abused and overused to say the least.

There is so much we can do in medicine, but we don’t often think through—or even know—the consequences. Your honestly and vulnerability here will serve as a guide for others thinking through their own futures.

This is a ministry that helps families deal with the very trauma you are dealing with. Katie has faced these very issues. https://youtu.be/8LMuCbyyUMY?si=OXS9iRCc6N9dnk3i

Thank you Jennifer (I've read some of your work!). I actually met Katie earlier this year while we filmed a video with Live Action about this topic. I will certainly watch this video too though!
